Growing up in Berkeley, California, I was surrounded at home by my parents' ambitions. My father, a fine artist and sculptor, not only created a stunning art portfolio but also taught painting and drawing at three different institutions in the area. My mother, with her degree in journalism, was deeply focused on literature and had a fascination with metaphysics, often inspiring me to explore the depths of creativity, much like the painted sculptures that adorned our home. Additionally, my passion for art grew as I developed my own photography collection, influenced by the artistic environment fostered by my parents, especially Peter Ashlock's techniques.

I began to take my art portfolio seriously around 1965 while visiting my dad in his studio in the East Village in New York City. I explored drawing and illustration, as well as sewing, making many garments that I wore for years. Later, I transitioned to making furniture, but my initial step was crafting sandals, inspired by the products of a local sandal maker. In high school, I delved into creating jewelry and building musical instruments. Though I had always explored photography, it was my photography collection that led me to finally settle on animation as my focus in art school, alongside my interest in fine art and painted sculpture.

    Welcome to Peter Ashlock's Portfolio

I made Halloween masks for my four kids, but they grew out of that phase and I did not. When my kids outgrew Halloween, I continued creating masks, which evolved beyond their original purpose. They became a part of my art portfolio, reflecting my growing exposure to fine art. Each mask turned into a painted sculpture, showcasing my artistic journey, much like my photography collection that captures the essence of my creativity. My inspiration draws from artists like Peter Ashlock, whose work resonates with my evolving artistic expression.

I expected Donald Trump to drive down Fifth Avenue in New York, on his way to the inauguration, sticking his bare ass out the window (mooning the crowd) and giving the crowd the finger. That is what the backside of the sculpture represents.
