- Growing up in Berkeley California, I was surrounded at home by my parents ambitions. My father, a fine artist/sculptor taught painting and drawing at three different institutions in the area. My mother with a degree in journalism was focused on literature and a fascination with metaphysics.

I began to make art seriously around 1966 while visiting my dad in his studio in the east Village of New York City. At first I explored drawing and illustration, but over the years I explored sewing, and made many garments that i wore for years. I made sandals, copying the products of a local sandal maker. I began to make art seriously around 1966 while visiting my dad in his studio in the east Village of New York City. At first I explored drawing and illustration, but over the years I explored sewing, and made many garments that i wore for years. I made sandals, copying the products of a local sandal maker. In high school I explored making jewelry and building musical instruments. I had always explored photography, but finally settled on animation as the subject to focus on in art school.
