My Passions

  • Growing up in Berkeley California, I was surrounded at home by my parents ambitions. My father, a fine artist/sculptor taught painting and drawing at three different institutions in the area. My mother with a degree in journalism was focused on literature and a fascination with metaphysics.

I began to make art seriously around 1965 while visiting my dad in his studio in the east Village in New York City.  I explored drawing and illustration,  and sewing, making many garments that I wore for years. I began to make art seriously around 1965 while visiting my dad in his studio in the east Village in New York City.  I explored drawing and illustration,  and sewing, making many garments that I wore for years. Welcome to Peter Ashlock's Portfolio

I made Halloween masks for my four kids, but they  grew out of that phase and I did not.  When my kids out grew Halloween I kept making masks but they were no longer related to Halloween. They became referential to my exposure to the history of art.

I expected Donald Trump to drive down Fifth Avenue in New York, on his way to the inauguration, sticking his bare ass out the window (mooning the crowd) and giving the crowd the finger. That is what the backside of the sculpture represents.
